So the theme for this month in our FB group I chose was Carol Singers but because I couldn’t think of what to do I ended up having a little splurge on new stash – specifically Heaven and Nature Sing stamp, stencil and dies – and so this is what I used for my card.
I filmed this last Saturday and I will admit it was a slightly crazy video as I was all over the place – but the card turned out pretty!
It took a little fiddling to create and I think I might do something different next time I create using this particular one – but for this first play I stuck with the design illustrated on the packaging.
The die set creates the two layers for the treble clef and then some little cluster die cuts and also some separate little leaves – unfortunately I’ve lost the clippers/pliers for cutting apart dies – so for now it’s stuck as a die where I have to cut it all out!
Anyway … the stencils are for both the shadow die and the treble clef die and then are easy to align – and then adding the stamped elements is also quite easy!
After stamping the sentiment elements I stuck the dies in place and then added the glitter cardstock panel to the back and added the whole thing to a card base I cut to the US size of card base.
Inside the card I added another treble clef to finish off!
Then I ended up making a second card using the other sentiment in the set and the little cluster elements.
This created the little panel and this I raised up on foam and then created a panel embossed using one of my favourite folders. I sanded it back to lightly expose the core and then added a mount of white and put it onto the green card base.
I added the raised panel to the front and then added the little gems for finishing off! So sweet.
Inside the card I added a panel of white which I stamped another cluster on it.
So that’s two cards made for the carol singing prompt … ok it might not have the carol singers as an image … just bits of carols they might be singing!
I didn’t exactly enjoy the making of these cards but looking at them now to type up this post they have grown on me and I am now keen on using them again and moving away from the colour scheme that the packaging suggested. But I know that making them was hard work for the first try!
