PATWITS circle journal for Rebecca

Rebecca’s envelope journal was a strange but wonderful construction and she had not bound the pages which made this a lot easier to work on.

I actually videoed the process so here is the link to that.

And the page…

I had no plan before I started but wanted a page with lots of texture… and of course my medium of choice recently… Brushos!

I then decided it was the perfect canvas for Darcy’s new stamps.

What I didn’t show on the video was the stitching I did to frame the piece using the sewing machine. I used a couple of different colour threads and different types of stitches.

Also after the page was finished I had to do the flaps that fold in… so I chose to stick to the Darcy stamps but chose an older set and did some basic painting to make them contrast but work with the art on the inside.

There was also the front and back to be done… but that will have to be for another blog post.

Hope Rebecca likes the whimsical gentle page I did for her.

Playing with scraps

A card made from scraps on the desk… and my favourite stamp set of the moment… Petal Palette.

This time I die cut some of the elements from vellum to add some softness to the otherwise quite stark card… the ribbon also helps with that!

The stamped images of the delicate flowers also added a bit of balance to that bold striped background!

Use it up! Another batch of cards

I’ve been quite determined this year to use up paper packs and card kits I’ve got with magazines… and here is one from a Making Cards magazine from a while ago. I must admit I like their kits as they are usually quite funky and modern.

I thought this one would make some fun kids birthday cards and a few hello cards too.

I ended up with 8 6×4 cards and 1 4×4 card in total, supplementing the papers and images with some cardstock that I felt coordinated perfectly.

On most of the images I also added some touches of wink of Stella to add subtle shimmer and then either added sequins of card candi to embellish. On all of them I also added either the happy birthday from Panda Party or the Hi from Tap Tap Tap to add the sentiment.

Quite a simple cut and stick project but I enjoyed it… probably aided by the fact the images and papers are so cute!

Playing with distress resist

So I had a little bit of playtime using the distress resist spray and distress oxides on glossy cardstock.

I created this fabulous textured and marblised background.

I put this to one side and then needed to clear up the craft room and sort out some random bits and pieces.

I ended up grabbing some stamped images I stamped about 3 or 4 years ago at a crop and never ended up using and also a cute little image from the winter friends set that I was obsessed with in the run up to christmas.

I layered these onto a canvas tag I had painted some turquoise on previously… and then layered it onto a pale green background. I love the colours and the images together.

Seahorse magic inchies

My final swap for this month for UK stampers forum was the inchies… and of course I kept to the brushos theme!

I cut the mountboard to size and stamped the cute little seahorse from the Magical Day stamp set and the little bubbles and then coloured the board with brushos in sea green and turquoise. I then flicked some art alchemy sparks paint onto them.

Then I stamped and die cut the seahorse onto white and used gamboge and brilliant red to water colour him in before sticking him down.

Once he was dry I added a layer of clear embossing to give them some shine.

Super happy with these cute little inchies.

Brushos ATC’s flower numbers

Hello.

It’s been a little while since I shared a video with you… so today I have one making three ATCs for the UK stampers forum swap. And as per the theme of the last few days I have been a bit brusho mad!

So follow along with my process on the video.. and here is the final results

Really happy with all of these and how bright and cheery they ended up.

Postcard Hare

I decided to use the fabulous Sheena Douglass Hare stamp again and brushos to create this month’s postcard. It is very similar to the ATC I made… just bigger!

I added more orange tones to the hare itself and the background is the light brown brusho. I love this stamp and how easy it is to create some stunning artwork.

Now part of the challenge for this swap is that you have to be able to post the postcard so I had to seal the brushos.

I decided to give the full postcard a couple of layers of clear embossing to do the seal. This gives the whole piece a glazed appearance. Love it.

Tag for a swap… brusho feature

I decided to make brushos the feature of the tag I made for this month’s UK stampers forum swap.

I used the black brusho to create all the different layers on this card and some of them were on gesso and some using emboss resist. All in all a fun combo of showing off the fab brusho crystals in my favourite colour… black!

Best friends cards

I loved this stamp that came with the Making Cards magazine last month and the bright and cheery papers that came with it.

I chose to create two cards using the stamp and colouring them differently.

The first one I went for a shabby look. I mat the paper onto some coredinations card which I had sanded the edge of. Also I distressed the edge of the paper first.

Then I stamped the image onto Very Vanilla and coloured the image with Inktense blocks and a waterbrush. Again I distressed the edge. This time I took the wine glass paper and brushed it with a stencil brush to give it some staining and make it less white.

I added the gorgeous pleated ribbon and tucked the paper and image behind it.

I then added the sentiment too.

The next one is more bold and I coloured the image with promarkers. The sentiment for this is from the Half Full stamps as I thought it worked well with the focal image.

I love the use of circles with the dotty paper!

So there are my two girly best friend cards. Fun and love how different they look.

More woof and meow

I have some cards I made using the fab Mama Elephant stamps … this time the cats came out to play too.

I stamped the full image and coloured them with promarkers and then die cut the image using two different dies.

This gave me two different card toppers. I created the cards using bright Daffodil Delight cardstock and some scraps of papers. I like the bold look of using the promarkers… it creates a very different look to the watercolour.

For the Dogs I used watercolour pencils to colour them and again chose some scraps of paper and then some Crushed Curry cardstock for the bases.

So two different looks for these super cute stamped images and different from yesterday’s tag too. And love using part of the big image rather than just leaving it as it is… makes the set even more versatile.
