Butterfly themed ATC swap (198, 199, 200!!!)

So today I have three ATCs to share with you that I made for a butterfly themed swap with UK stampers forum.

Two started life as the gelato background I did in class a couple of weeks ago.

I added stamping and doodling and of course the obligatory butterfly. The butterfly I used on all three was a stamp from Creative Stamping magazine.

I also used the Butterfly basics quote on this. You might just be able to see there is some texture paste on this and some little bits of foiling too.

The next one is from the same background. But this one I added some grey inking and plenty of stickles.  There are also a few splodges of distress oxides to add some contrast.

To continue on the bling theme I also used some sequins to embellish.

Next a different background entirely.  This was a background I made with Helen in her scrapbooking class and I ended up cutting it up for ATCs. It was using the ink smooshing method and sprays.  To this I added some stamping using the Creative magazine stamps and distress oxides.  I then heat embossed the Butterfly and used the oxides to paint the colour.  I also added sequins and the label sentiment.

So three ATCs using the same butterfly stamps but each different.

And with a great big fanfare that is 200 ATCs made so far this year! Whoop!

A surprise ATC (#197)

I trade a lot of my ATCs through Facebook groups and this atc was made especially for one of my trading partners as he had asked for a surprise.

I used a distress oxide background and overlaid a piece of map paper I had cut to size and then ripped. Then I chose a couple of stamps that I had in my bits and pieces box. I then stamped and cut the Tape it piece.

As embellishments I added a dried circle of paint, a tiny paperclip and some ribbon that I stitched into place.

I added outlining to everything and then found a quote I liked and added that too and more outlining. Then I added some gold elements using my heatwave.  I love how this came together and hopefully Wayne likes his surprise ATC too!

Craft room clear out and reorganise

My craft room had got VERY out of hand. And the parents visit was looming. These two things mean a major tidy up was required (my craft room is also the spare room where the parents stay!).

I thought I would document the process with my ProjectLife app.

I did make a promise to myself not to create anything until it was sorted!

At this stage I did create a little something from the stash I found… I needed a notecard to go in a parcel I had put together for a friend. The piece of card with paint/ink on it was found in the mess. I added the stencilled feather with spray Dylusions and the quote I found in the stash too.  Just a couple of doodles and a nice little notecard.

Right back to it…

I spent the last hour of the time I spent in the craftroom cutting up an old atlas into usable sized papers.  Wow I know how to spend a Saturday night!!!

And then finally…

So the bed is clear and just needs some clean bedding putting on before the parents arrive and they should have some room to move around the room too!

Seaside ATC’s (194,195,196)

Lindsay Mason organises an ATC swap every month and I always try to join in… the theme for April was Seaside.

I started with three bases made out of some patterned paper that is quite grungy… I then gave them a coat of gesso.

Next step I added some stamping with a postcard stamp and time to get out the distress oxide inks.

Above shows them before I added water.

Then after the water before they dried.  I added a few more layers and dried it…

Love how this looks.

So each of them got a different look with some seaside themed stamps.

The first one has the seagulls as the feature images. I added the stamping and then added the title with some letter stamps and embossed them. I did the same with the edge.  I then also added the shiny fishscale type gems.

This one I chose to make a focal point with the frame and embossed the image below it before adding the frame. I also added embossing for the title and the edges.  I also did a little bit of stencilling just to change it up a little.

The last one had a different look as the colour underneath is a little bit more green. After the stamping I added tissue paper to soften the images and add texture.  I also then added the embossed shell image. I also thought it needed some more contrast colour so added some Spiced Marmalade distress oxide ink.

I also added some string and shells and then the Indigo Blu sentiment.

Love how they all look different and plenty of fun texture going on.

Post class round up – gelatos

Hi

I’ve realised I never got round to sharing what we did actually make at the gelatos session on Tuesday…  well we made a great big mess!

Yes this was the table post session… piles of stash, scraps and many many many baby wipes! Lol!

Ok so what did we actually make.

Well the samples I shared on Tuesday but on the night we made some different stuff but using the same techniques. None of us really finished out projects but most of us got close on at least one…

First our scrapbook pages…

Then our sunset cards…

Next our stencilled background cards (mine and Karen’s ended up as starts of ATCs)…

The dragonfly one just above was a a demonstration I did. Unfortunately we ran out of time for doing this one.

Once I have finished some of these off properly  (of the ones that are mine!) I will share more pics.

Pirate ATCs (192 & 193)

On Monday I shared a card I made with a pirate theme… I decided to then make a couple of ATCs from the left over papers and two contrasting styles. I also had the video running for this!

Amazing how different they look from the same materials just treated differently.

Please check out my video of the process over on YouTube.

Steam punk atc take 2 (190 + 191)

Here are the other two atcs I made which were part of the project I shared on Wednesday.  This is the starting point for the bottom two cards.

I decided for both of them to add a sentiment to them where the stamping had not quite worked.

The second one I think I will end up turning into a birthday card topper, but for now here it is as an ATC.

Random ATC time (187, 188, 189)

So I made a few random ATCs on Monday whilst clearing some space on the desk.

This first one is using a distress oxide background I started a few weeks ago when mopping up the ink off my mat rather than just wiping it away. I added the stamped letters from Tap Tap Tap and some modelling paste leftover from the sample for the class then added a hot air balloon die cut from foam.

The next one was distress stain on the background which blended so prettily. I then used modelling paste through a feather stencil I have. Then added the frame of feathers using a stamp from a magazine. The quote I printed out.

And the next one is a scrap of a doodled page from a book I’ve been using for backgrounds. Although the base colour is the book, all the doodles are mine using spectrum noir pencils. I added the die cut flower leftover from the sample making and then the quote is a Tim Holtz sticker. I then had to add the stickles to the flower for the bling!

Loved finishing off these little beauties.  All so different and fun.

Great what can be made from little bits and pieces!

Artful ATC swap… steampunk (185 & 186)

I have a couple of ATC’S to share today made for the Artful ATCs swap where the theme this month is Steampunk.

I started with this piece of card onto which I had blotted some other atcs made with Distress stains and then added some more stain to finish colouring. I had then taken some Hot picks stamps from Paperartsy and using different coloured inks stamped them all over.  Whilst I was at it I also created another sheet below.

I loved both of them so decided to get emboss onto them the feature images from the Hot picks stamp sets.

I used am emerald green  embossing powder to add contrast.

I then cut each up into ATC size and chose the two I liked the best for the theme … the top two. The others I will no doubt finish off at some point soon but for now they are in the PhD pile (Projects half done!).

So here is how they ended up…

I added little embellishments using brass to them and then stamped sentiments from the same Hot picks sets. On the balloon one I added distress stain to the sentiment as a nice contrast. I also used coloured brads too.

And on the clock man I kept it black and white instead and the brad is a little button one.

Love how these both turned out. Bright and cheery and yet wonderfully Steampunk too!
