Happy 80th birthday Dad!

So I’m not going to lie this card started as something else but didn’t like it so took it apart and started again! Sometimes it just happens and I think my creative brain needed some wake up time!

Here is the finished card …

… but the original card was this one …

I just didn’t like the yellow embossed cake and the positioning and the number balloons were floppier than I hoped … it just wasn’t working! So I reverted to comfort zone and away from fun fold and went for a 6×6 card instead!

The good news is that I saved most of the elements off the original card to add to this one – just cut a new piece of the vellum, added a white cardstock square and an additional balloon in red to balance the colours!

Now you are seeing a few sneak peeks with this card as I have received a few products for some design team work (the number balloons and the glitter paper that I die cut from) so keep you eyes peeled for in a few weeks when I will share more about that – but I couldn’t help using the balloon dies for my Dads special birthday card!

I think my Dad will like this bright and cheerful card for his birthday … plus it’s got movement which I think makes it extra fun!

I love those motion spring “boingers” and keeping the balloons attached the acetate sticks helps give them some movement too!

And hope this card is a lesson to everyone that it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t go to plan – just adapt the plan!

Happiest of birthdays to my lovely Dad xxx

Happy crafting!

Catherine
