I had a little play in my journal just because… and I used scraps of paper and some masking tape before adding gesso. Then I added lots paint using a brayer and my fingers.

I also used Inktense to define some of the borders of the papers and layers and then pen and doodles.

I then added some doilies, a frame i had made with the stitched square and a digital stamp I had coloured with promarkers. I also found some butterflies that worked brilliantly with the colour scheme.

I also added lots of stickers and some rub ons.

I love the fact I used lots of bits and pieces from the stash that I have had for ages and yet managed to keep the page working as a cohesive page.

Sooner

Today is one of the princess’ best friends birthday (And her twin birthday too… happy birthday Matthew!). Tonight I have seven 11/12 year olds sleeping over to celebrate both Hannah’s birthday and Maya’s from last week.

So we have a tropical themed decor going on… plenty of pineapples and flamingos!

And I’ve gone for a simple but fun theme for the party bags…

I created little clusters of fun patterned papers and then the lovely Lawn Fawn pineapples (coloured with distress ink and heat embossed) and some die cut banners handstamped with their names.

I added some strips of ribbon too that coordinates too and attached them to the bags with coloured staples.

So this is them last night (Yes as usual I was last minute… and today need to actually do something about putting something in them!) and later today I will have to share the cards I made for Hannah and Matthew!

When I got some new stash I had a play on camera and made this masterboard using the Seth Apter paints and embossing powders…

Well I finally got around to using some it.

I made a couple of cards using it and some other bits and pieces from the stash…

Card one features a butterfly stamped and embossed using the same Seth Apter embossing powders and a little tag and doily added for more texture and to make it very pretty!

Card 2 has a very very very embossed heart die cut on it and a black circle for contrast.

Absolutely adore the layers in the embossed heart. So scrummy!

So there is still some masterboard to use up but here are two of the finished pieces at least!

I posted about these fab positivity quotes that a work friend gave me a little while ago and now I have five cards I made using them.

As they are large images and quite focal the cards didn’t need much extra stuff doing to them. I add a mount of different coloured cardstock to each of them. Then either added stamping to the card blank or some patterned paper. On one I just added the little bit of bakers twine.

Love these little cards of positivity.

Today I have an art journal page to share that I made a few weeks ago…

I added some distress stain onto some mixed media cardstock and then added texture paste through a Claritystamps stencil. I then added plenty of stamping and more ink around the edges.

I then added the sentiment to some scraps of bookprint.

I love the depth to the layers.

Next I added a tag I made separately using distress stains onto a canvas tag and then added another layer of tag which I used distress oxides to add colour and then added the stamping.

I added this to black cardstock to frame it and then found a page in my journal to add it to. I added some blue paint to the background with a baby wipe to add it like a wash.

Really happy with how this came out. Love all the layers and the how the different colours combined. And for those interested… here is the video of how I made it.

Originally this was supposed to be for a swap but the swap didn’t happen so happy to have this artwork for myself.

… and for my pineapple mad girl… a pineapple themed card!

I bought the Aloha stamp set with coordinating dies from Lawn Fawn just to make her a card and to decorate her invites to her party… and so I stamped a pattern with them using a mixture of black ink and embossing in silver and white glitter powder.

Then I went a little mad with tropical coloured greens and turquoise distress inks and smooshing.

I then used the Happy Celebrations stamps to create the greeting in the same way… and then a single pineapple die cut out too.

Then I went back in with the pine needles ink and added some colour to the leaves and to the Happy. Next I assembled and added plenty of wink of stella. I also added the glossy accents to the embellishment pineapple to add more texture.

I can’t believe my baby girl has turned 12… although given she is already taller than me… I sometimes wonder if she is actually a lot older!

As for the invites… I kept these more simple… six of these… I used the main pineapple image and coloured it with oxides and water before diecutting them. I also stamped and die cut the sunglasses and then added the pineapples to the cards with foam dimensionals. Then added the glasses and added a layer of glossy accents to the glasses.

I found the Let’s Party stamp in a magazine set and thought it worked well.

And so it’s time to celebrate … Happy birthday to my gorgeous girl who has always been super cute!

Time to share another circle journal page…

I chose a black envelope in Hazel’s journal as my surface to work on and grabbed some of the elements she had gifted to work with. The little oriental charm gave me the idea to work with the Lynne Perella stamps.

This is the first in progress picture with the paint, stencilling, paper and then waiting for the glossy texture paste to dry.

I love the tag and how I added all the layers of paint, embossing and sanding to make it dimensional and more vintage.

In the sunshine you can really see all the layers and the bright colours I added. I love that I kept quite a lot of the black background still visible too.

And in the light off the lamp you can see the texture paste shine too!
