Upcycling positive vibes!

Today I have a card I made for a work friend who has had a major operation and is currently immobile. Just before Christmas she passed me a stack of inspirational quotes that she had cut from a calendar in case I had use of them and I love them all! Of course I needed to make her a card so grabbed one of them that seemed appropriate and made this card.

The quote piece was cut down a little and then mounted on both a piece of tranquil tide and some white edged with the same ink colour. Then I die cut the sprig from vellum a couple of times and added the bow in pool party ribbon from the stash.

A lovely positive card and of course a fab bit of upcycling aswell.

52 mixed media cards week 10 “How does your garden grow?”

Ok it’s time to share this week’s 52 mixed media playing card and the prompt is

How does your garden grow?

Well with plenty of weeds and mud if I am honest!!! However I can make pretty art to forget about that!

So whilst I am being honest I actually made this card before I knew the prompt as a card ready for when I didn’t want to follow the prompt and so I had one prepared ahead of time in case I wasn’t able to create… but it fits the prompt so I’m using it this week.

And why am I confessing this? Because I made a video and that will give it away regardless! Lol!

So enough blathering … here is what I made…

Plenty of gorgeous textures and colours. Super happy with this!

And here is the link to the video.

52 mixed media cards week 9 … home sweet home

When I saw the challenge prompt this week I knew I was going to be using the chipboard shape I got off Hazel for her circle journal. So I grabbed some bits from the box and made this card …

And of course I stuck the video on …

Third day of christmas cards

I promised two more unseasonable cards today… Here they are!

Two more square cards using the stash I got as a secret Santa present! All I added was the adhesive and card blanks! Perfect gift for a few hours of playtime for me!

Now time to pack away the Christmas stash after three days of Christmas card blogging and to put these in a safe place until they are needed!

More Christmas cards

Yesterday I shared some Christmas cards I made from the generous stash I got at Christmas from a secret santa. Well I didnt stop with those 4 and carried on with some of the other images to make another 4 cards.

This time I kept them to smaller size tent fold a6 cards.

Love these and this whole gold edging thing I’ve got going on!

I made two more cards but will share those tomorrow but then will put the Christmas stash away for a little while! Ha ha ha!

DT: Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge

Hello there! Today I have some not very seasonal cards to share… but it’s never to early to start on your Christmas cards!

The challenge at Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge is to use up your stash of patterned paper. Well this is some of the stash I was given as part of a secret Santa gift and I made 4 cards in total… starting with this one as my contribution to the challenge.

I had kindly been gifted some stamped images, some patterned papers and some coordinating bows. I started by watercolouring all the images with some inks and a water brush.

Then did some cutting out and chose papers that worked with the images and colour scheme.

I decided to start with the kings image and do 4 cards using that rather than a mix of images. So in addition to the one above I made three others…

To get the added gold edges I used a sharpie pen to edge panels which is an old technique I hadn’t used in a while.

All the sentiments were stamped Emma Godfrey sentiments and embossed with a dark purple colour.

Really happy with this use of patterned papers and gifted images. Now off to see what everyone else has been up to with their stash of patterned papers!

Happy Valentine’s dear hubby

Yes its Valentine’s day … and of course I made a card for the hubby dearest!

I had saved a piece of the patterned paper I had been playing with a few weeks ago and use it as the card topper on this distressed card, complete with doilies and gems… but still think it does for the hubby with the grungey edges and the kraft cardstock.

Love you V!

Finishing off a journal page

Quite some time ago I wiped off a few stencils onto a page in my Dylusions journal and also added some texture paste that I had coloured through a Seth Apter stencil and then just left it be… well on Friday I decided it was time to finish that page and this is what I ended up with.

I added Inktense over the full page using the blocks and then adding water to give it a wash. I also added some white gesso and then more Inktense using the pencils and waterbrush to activate.

I added a little bit of stamping using the Gummiapan text stamp and archival inks. I also added some doodling with charcoal which added some interesting effects.

Then I added some sentiments/titles using the distress oxides and clear embossing powder. These are some Visible Image stamps.

Of course I also added splashes … I’m addicted to my fan brush! … of both white gesso and the dark blue inktense.

Super happy with this page and how it ended up… not bad for a work in progress of about 18months!

52 mixed media cards week 6 … pretty shortsighted

This week the prompt of “pretty short sighted” had me a little stumped… but then I popped into Poundland on my lunch break and spotted a fancy dress monocle and immediately I had the idea of adding it to a card somehow and using pretty colours! Weird I know but that’s what I went with!

Want to see how I got to this final card… well I videoed the process! Here is the link.

Loved the playtime and quite chuffed with the eye drawing too.
