Use them or lose them #11 Hello Doily

So this year I have decided to challenge myself to make a set of cards, scrapbook page or journal layout using each of my stamp sets as I know I have some I rarely use!

Today I grabbed another background stamp, Hello Doily.  I have a confession that I bought this stamp ages ago and once again have rarely used it.

I decided that I would make two cards using slightly different colours but starting from the same base.

I stamped the image in Versamark and embossed using clear embossing powder and this was onto pink cardstock.

Then I grabbed some distress inks and started adding colour.  One I added pinks to and the other I added greys to it. The pink one I also scrumpled up and distressed the edges of!

Next I decided they needed some more texture so added some elements from them using the Timeless Textures stamps.

I needed a focal image and some contrast for the image…. so I got a bit of ribbon, a doily and then some paper flowers.  Then I stamped the girl stamp I got at AFTH and hadn’t got round to using.  I also used the That’s the Ticket stamp and punch for the sentiments.

The final touch for these had of course needs to be pearls!

Love how these turned out and had forgotten how great the clear emboss resist technique was!  Need to do it more often.  But do I need to do it with this stamp?  It sure is pretty but I find it quite a restrictive image to use as it’s quite pretty pretty and I have other stamps and other ways of doing a pretty background.  So undecided!  Let’s see how the week plays out with this stamp!

Happy crafting!
